Picture Description - Context

  • 62 HAPPY CHEERS TO OUR IMMEDIATE PAST PRESIDENT, CHARLEAN MAJEK OKUNOLA OWOO.

Our joy knows no bound today, as our Immediate Past President marks his 62nd birthday today. The Central Executive Council is quite elated about this.

A seasoned Chartered Chemist, FELLOW of the Institute of Chartered Chemist  of Nigeria [ FICCON ] and Fellow, Chemical Society of Nigeria (FCSN), our IPP had his secondary education at our famous & prestigious alma mater, St. Charles' Grammar School, Osogbo from 1972-76. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Bayero University, Kano (1978 -1983), Diploma in Chemical Pretreatment Systems from Brent Europe in U.K., Diploma in Spraying Equipment Techniques in DeVilBiss, Ransburg, U.K, Higher Diploma in Marketing from University of Lagos in 1995 and an MBA from the University of Lagos (2004).
He has attended various courses, workshops and seminars in the field of Chemistry and Business Management both in and out of the country.

A Pioneer member of the Stanford SEEDS Transformation Programme for Africa, a program from Stanford University USA as a Cohort 1 participant. A participant of Chemical Safety Management in Africa, Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons OPCW/European Union (EU), in Pretoria - South Africa (May 2011).

He lectured for some years before joining Berger Paints Nig. Plc in 1991 as a Development Chemist.

He rose through various positions to become a Divisional Manager in 1998. He headed various divisions of the company until November 2002 when he bowed out to establish his manufacturing outfit,  Mabolc International Ltd with full focus on Chemical Pretreatment Systems, Corrosion treatment and Paint Manufacturing.

Majek Okunola Owoo’s life revolves around service to humanity, dedication to God and an undying passion to reposition youths and upcoming Chemists in a dynamic world of change by having a paradigm shift from limitations to an enlarged avenue of opportunities,  academically and industrially to effectively and efficiently carry out their professional responsibilities.

He is a member of several professional bodies. He is a member of the newly reconstituted Board of the Governing Council of the Institute of Chartered Chemists of Nigeria, ICCON. He is currently the Deputy Vice President, representing the entire South West, of the Chemical Society of Nigeria.

He is a Servant of GOD at Christ Livingspring Apostolic Ministry, (CLAM).

On the SCOBA front, he was a 2-term 2nd Vice President of SCOBA (2010-2014), 2-term President of SCOBA (2014-2018), currently the Immediate Past President of SCOBA and an Ex-Officio  member of the current Central Executive Council. We still benefit from his wealth of experience in management. He is also a guiding light on networking, current and historical SCOBA issues.

Worthy of note were his membership, role & contributions to the Past President Tayo Orekoya-led CEC that conceived, raised funds and executed the major part of the BASHORUN ROTIMI OBEISUN ALUMNI HALL. It is instructive to reiterate that his headship as President of CEC between 2014-2018 saw to the completion of that project.

À charismatic manager of men with poise, gait, grit and guile, IPP Owoo is known for his tranquil management style in which good & productive efforts are rewarded and deliberate but noticed  shortcomings and misdemeanors are greeted, most times, with corrective but indestructible equanimity.

We rejoice with his other half of insteemable value, Mama Bolanle Majek-Owoo (nee Laniyan) with whom he has had and enjoyed undisrupted  32-year marital blitz with 4 beautiful daughters and 3 grand daughters, Stanza 726, friends and associates on this memorable and joyous occasion.

Happy birthday & big congratulations, IPP Majek Okunola Owoo, a symbol and epitome of service to school and humanity. Igba odun, odun kan ni o.

    Signed:
